You are a Pattern Recognition Creature.
You (often without knowing it).. Have a sense of what seems to help people change .. and what keeps getting in the way.
You may even know that something in the larger environment, relationships or system needs to shift.
But seeing it and being able to explain it clearly.. AND why it matters are different things.
Sometimes, understanding the biological mechanisms underneath what you're seeing changes not only how you explain your work…
It helps you stand on more solid ground and speak more clearly about what you are sensing and what you know might help shift things in a new way.
I saw this happen beautifully with educational consultant Lisa Low.
Lisa had already noticed something important in her work with children and families:
The “problem behavior” was often not (ever) just about that child.
So many other systems and beings were part of the picture.
The adults, and their nervous system states, responses and ways of relating - all mattered too.
Lisa could sense this.
But what still felt like a challenge was helping the adults understand why their nervous system states mattered - and what needed to shift in the larger system.
Then we began exploring her work through the lens of neuroscience.
(And not just any kind of neuroscience… embodied social neuroscience.)
- Attunement and attachment.
- How nervous systems influence other nervous systems.
- The biological importance of regulating relationships, safety and the environments we are repeatedly exposed to.
And there were these wonderful aha moments that we could both feel in her work (and in how she saw her role.)
Something Lisa had understood intuitively for years wasn't just a random idea she had come up with.
She was sensing the patterns that reflected biological mechanisms.
And as she understood those mechanisms more deeply, she could explain why the work mattered, not just for one person, but for the entire system around them.
That changed something.
Instead of feeling like she was asking people to trust her perspective, she could help them see:
- Why nervous system states and responses were a critical part of the whole system
- Why changing relational environments could change what became available to each person.
- Why what she was asking them to explore reflected something biologically fundamental about how human nervous systems develop, adapt and relate.
And that understanding gave her voice a different kind of clarity and authority.
She became more confident developing and explaining her approach.
And other people began turning to her .. inviting her into conversations, asking for her ideas and looking to her to help propose what could be done differently.
Eventually, she gave the work a name:
Relational Science.
And her role as a Thought Leader emerged…
I love this story because it captures something at the heart of the first phase of the Super-Regulators™ Neuroscience Academy:
WISDOM.
Coaches, educators, practitioners and leaders already carry and emanate so much knowledge and wisdom.
They’ve seen patterns emerge and repeat. They’ve experimented. They've noticed what seems to help, what doesn't, and what people seem to need.
And sometimes, when we explore the science underneath all of that…
We start seeing the larger system, and the mechanisms that keep it stuck or help it adapt.
We start seeing more leverage points for change.
And we become better able to help other people see them too.
That is a huge part of what I want us to do in the Academy.
To see your intuition and wisdom through the eyes of biological truths.
- Sometimes the science confirms what we were already sensing, and gives us new language for it.
- Sometimes it forces us to nuance or challenge what we thought.*
- And sometimes, the science shows us that something we’ve been sensing is actually at the core of how change happens.
*I love when it challenges us. It gives us even more confidence that what we’re seeing and explaining isn't pop psychology or a trendy buzzword.
That can be a beautiful feeling.
And I've seen it happen again and again in the groups I lead doing this work.
So… in this era of information overload, THAT'S where we begin.
With your wisdom.
And this is also why I'm so excited about doing this live.
I had a meeting today with my MIT team, and I was reminded that some kinds of clarity just don't really emerge from consuming more information.
They emerge from and between people.
serve-and-return dynamic: one person offers something, someone else sees another angle.
An idea comes back slightly expanded, nuanced, clearer. And then another person builds on it.
And through an environment where people feel safe enough to wonder, challenge, contribute and not already know, we can get to something clearer and more resonant any one of us could have done alone.
By the end of our conversation today, we all had greater clarity about our next steps.
There was a sense of energy, inspiration and strength around what we knew we were co-creating together: a vision of helping human beings feel better, access more agency and contribute to a better world.
This is the kind of environment we co-create inside the Live Academy.
A place where:
- You aren't just "learning neuroscience": you're applying it to your own work, ideas and observations.
- Your questions and insights become part of what the group gets to think with.
- We explore ideas through conversation, curiosity and multiple perspectives instead of just consuming more information.
- You get to experience the “serve and return” of human intelligence, where something someone else says might spark something you might not have seen in your own work.
- We create enough safety to challenge, refine and expand our thinking together.
- You leave seeing your own work differently, and with clearer language for helping other people see its value too.
The Super-Regulators™ Neuroscience Academy takes us through six phases:
Wisdom-Emergence → Clarity-Emanation → Energy Regulation → Adaptation → Attunement → Ascension
The complete six-phase curriculum, Neuro-Meditations, Neuro-Wisdom Library and 2026 micro-courses are included.
People from all over the world are coming together for this. If you've been feeling the pull toward this work, we'd love to have you in the room with us.
*and if scheduling or other constraints simply don't align for the Live Academy, getting access to the serve-and-return dynamics of the group via the recordings will still offer you insight and facilitate your own emerging wisdom (which is why the Digital Academy is there as an option).
