Jimelle Carlson: Jimelle has been the Program Director for Foundations Cognitive Schools for the past 4 years. It is a small school (3 classrooms) that works with students from 1st through 12th grade, who struggle with learning challenges. She lives with her husband in Southern California, and has four amazing kids - two boys and two girls.
Sarah Johnson: Sarah is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She has been working with humans for thirty years and has experience in prevention, youth development, health promotion as well as her clinical work. Sarah is currently the Mental Health Director for the La Crosse Area Family YMCA in La Crosse WI, developing and piloting training materials to increase mental health literacy across the Y movement and globe. Sarah is also an adjunct professor at Winona State University in the Counselor Education Program in Winona, MN, and Winona's first ever Creative Laureate. Sarah has a name tag that identifies her as the Happiness Fairy.
Ben Bailey: Ben is a 43-year-old Firefighter in England. He is a proud dad of his little man, Sam age 5, who is full of energy. Ben's also married to his amazing wife Nerissa who is Australian, who he met in Canada when he was ski instructing for 2 seasons back in 2007/8. He is a passionate skier, mountain biker and adventurer.
Samantha Meza: Samantha grew up and is living in Alberta, Canada and is currently completing her Masters of Social Work with a focus on international community development. She was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder while completing her undergraduate degree, but her earliest memory of experiencing strong anxiety symptoms was when she was about 5 years old. She is always looking for ways to learn about the brain and why hers responds as it does.
Ibtissam: Ibtissam is a "third culture kid"; a Kenyan who grew up in the middle east and then moved to Asia for study before landing in Australia to work as a doctor. She is also a muslim woman who wears a hijab. She has been working in Australia since 2012, and has had a few unexpected setbacks in progressing in her training and is interested in overcoming the mental frameworks that have contributed to this.
David Militzer: David works in California on promoting opportunity, social emotional learning, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and transcendental purpose driven education. His writings on hope, education, neo-liberalism, and the great acceleration have been published in the John Dewey Societies’ Online Journal of School and Society. His current passion is education’s role in evolving ourselves and relationship to life and all matter in this moment.
Tom Gunning: Tom is a meditation and self-care teacher in Wexford, Ireland. He is the owner of the Parable Garden Education Project that is working on innovative ways to teach Green Therapy and programs on Creative Ecology to students, in particular.'
Elsa Casanova: Elsa is from Oakland, California. She likes to travel and get to know new people. She practices vipassana, which is a type of meditation that focuses on observing our bodily sensations. She have a passion for helping others see things in a new way.
Frederick Weiss: Frederick is a 35 year old, husband/father of soon to be 2, with a 2.5 year old and baby due in September. He works for Moorhead Public Schools, in Moorhead, MN, as a Special Educator; He started, and is continually engaged in the process of designing/developing, a program for students receiving service for Emotional Behavioral Disorders. He received an undergrad in Psychology and Studio Art, eventually earning his Masters in Special Education.
Mary Susan Chen: Mary's path as a lover of movement and the body started in gymnastics, sports, then expanded as a Physical Therapist. She has taken tai chi, aikido, yoga, ballroom dance and hula as an adult. She just finished a job in a pain management center. She is currently teaching online Feldenkrais classes and taking a break to help out with 2 grandchildren coming later this year.
Beth Hull: Beth is a wife and mother of 5 (all boys!) in Wake Forest, NC. She works as an account manager dealing directly with prospects and clients for a company that sells HR software.
Sandra Littlejohn: Sandra has a background in counseling and journalism, and most of her professional counseling work was with teenagers in residential programs and with at-risk youth. Along her parenting journey, she discovered each of her three children are neurodiverse (ADHD, OCD and Asperger’s). She is starting on-line coaching and teaching platform to help weary parents navigate this journey with a better roadmap.
Libbey Paul: Libbey is a 19-year Oak Park Illinois resident who works to improve the community by applying her communication skills, creativity, nonprofit experience, and business background. Libbey is currently semi-retired, serving as a volunteer facilitator for Race Conscious Dialogues, substitute teacher, and activist for progressive causes, particularly focused on racial justice. Experienced in circle practices, she believes in the power of individuals working collectively.
Vikki Rompala: Vikki is an Oak Parker and social worker with a blended family of 5. She has been practicing some form of mindfulness since 2002 as she has seen how her energy supports or gets in the way of healing.
George Kelly: George grew up on the east coast of Canada, but has been working with teaching candidates for the last 30 years in British Columbia. He also gets asked to deliver many workshops for volunteers within the local and professional youth sports community. His three boys are young professionals in their twenties.
