“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”
― Kahlil Gibran
Just as in a physical injury, when we embark on a healing journey, we take into account the scar tissues, the hesitations and modifications that may enter into the make-up of that person as they go through challenging experiences in their life.
If we look at those wounds, injuries and challenges from a healing perspective, we transform our vision into one that looks at their journey through the eyes of internal resourcefulness. We look at them through the eyes of seeing how everything they have gone through has catalyzed a level of resourcefulness and strength on a spiritual, emotional, mental, physical and energetic level.
Every time that person had to summon up the extra energy involved in restoring an aspect of their mind and body, it meant that they tuned into some type of mechanism of internal energy generation.
Knowing how many times a person has summoned that energy after disappointment, pain, injury, loss, grief, and exhaustion - gives us information as to how powerful of a mechanism they have within them to continuously generate that internal resourcefulness and strength.
From that view, we can see scars and wounds - whether they are visible or invisible - in a new light. We see them as indicators of a power that goes beyond words and comprehension from a human perspective. It gets us in touch with a Life Force that flows to us and through us and continuously generates and transmutes itself into new actions and thoughts that become a part of our story. The plot twists and turns of our stories are one-of-a-kind, never-seen-before, and will never repeat again. And they shape us into threads of existence that weave together in ways that create more and more complex perspectives of what humans are capable of. Each of us has our own unique thread of energy and motion, rupture and repair. Each of our journeys represent that Life Force that pulses through our hearts and veins and muscles, pushing us to keep getting up each time we think we can’t.
One person’s journey of gathering that type of energy can inspire others to tune in to that Life Force that reminds them that they are capable of the same. What wounds do you carry as confirmation of the power of that internal force within you?
“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
― Rumi

On a side note...
A journey that inspires me every single day is one of a veteran, a successful entrepreneur, a warrior, and a leader, who wants to help others find that internal strength within them. He uses his past to create new futures not just for him but for so many people. You can hear him talk about some of his journey at the beginning of this interview. He also has another video about overcoming depression. I love hearing his stories and can't wait to hear more. It also happens to be his birthday today! His incredible past service in war has been made into a hat in support of Warriors Heart Foundation, and created by Eagles and Angels - an organization that specializes in transforming the uniforms of veterans into stories that can be worn by people who support them. He is a model of resilience and I look forward to sharing more about what he teaches in the future. Happy Birthday to an amazing hero - who's strength and inspiration has helped me on my own healing journey 🙂
