brainwaves and book-writing...
First I want to send my appreciation to all of you who are sending me the most beautiful emails and insightful, intriguing questions related to my last newsletter and podcast episode! I will dedicate some time to responding this weekend.
As some of you know, I've been working towards a dream of using my gifts and expertise in ways that allow me to spend a lot of time outdoors, and on different types of adventures and learning journeys. As much as I am grateful for my current work at a clinical neuropsychology center and my consulting projects for other companies, I know they are not part of my long-term vision - but they are serving a purpose for me now as I plant seeds and work to integrate various pieces of the puzzle together.
A confession to make is that although I also love writing blog posts and cheering people on their own content platforms, it does seem to be diffusing my creative and verbal energy as well as attention away from the focus I need for my book. Because I'm on computers around 8-9 hours a day running brainwave, cognitive skills and reading skills programs, I have been finding it particularly difficult to get to that deep place of focus I need to be at to finish this book and pave the way for the next chapter of my life and career.
I like to post about 'being behind the scenes' from time to time as an attempt to hold myself accountable to stay centered on things in front of me that are building towards my long-term vision. With that, I am going to experiment with some different rhythms for being off 'distracting websites' so I can focus strictly on book-research and writing activities. Some people are able to hibernate in a cabin in the woods for a week... since I'm not able to do that at this time, I'll do my best with what I have!
And thank you to the people who hold me to high standards of what they know I can achieve with the right mindset, focus and discipline 🙂 I'm grateful for the friends who remind me of this and that there are levels of life worth striving for that are beyond what our past might predict or our mind could currently imagine. Another example of why it's so important for us to surround ourselves with people who want to see us dig deep, transcend our past, and reach our highest potential.

victory becomes a matter of time"

On a side note...
Another issue I see coming up is the power of AI algorithms and the content that is presented that continues to fuel divisiveness. There are important matters going on, and it's up to us to seek out the best information we can to inform ourselves. We can't let ourselves get constantly distracted by the division-based algorithms that fuel echo chambers and pull us further apart, distracting us with outrage instead of using our capacities to find intelligent solutions to our challenges. High level intelligent and complex thinking requires a certain type of neural activity. That activity is tied to cognitive flexibility and the ability to regulate our nervous systems. Those features are influenced by the people we have around us, and also importantly - the humans children have around them. My mission centers around helping humans truly discover the power and intelligence of the human brain-body system, so that we can increase the quality of life and wellbeing for ourselves now, and for future generations. All of that requires sound mental health and social support and strong, regulated family units and systems. Those things start in the home and in our communities. I do believe that there are incentives for decision-makers to keep populations divided as a way of control. These are strategies that have been used in many countries around the world (Rwanda and Nigeria were two of many examples). Dividing a population against itself is a control tactic. The divisiveness that gets sparked online through various platforms (including search engines) is not going anywhere. It's up to us to find ways to center back onto our own deeply held values and whatever mission we feel calls to us. When I take short breaks from those platforms, I find it helps me become a better observer of patterns, which helps me find my own unique voice in the midst of all the reactivity and groupthink that is fueled constantly online. Thank you for your patience!
I'm looking forward to the new communities I'll be a part of soon in Flathead Valley and to the amazing trainings I'll be doing that will give me even wider horizons of perspectives and skills for new adventures 🙂 More updates to come!
