I often get asked ‘what is a mindset in terms of what is happening inside the brain? ‘
Mindsets are a set of beliefs and predictions that reflect the activity of brain circuits that are well used and repeated.
Because you were around a small set of people during critical years of brain development, you were likely surrounded by similar behaviors and emotional responses over and over again. The words that surrounded you were data that your brain gathered to create cause-effect models.
That is the basis of what a mindset is. It’s a set of beliefs that are essentially cause-effect models of how the world operates and why things are the way they are.
Notice what happens if you don’t do well at something. Is there a voice that motivates you? Or does that voice beat you down and make you feel small, like giving up? That voice may have more to do with what you heard when you were young than you realize.
When it comes to building brain networks, it’s survival-of-the-busiest.
Monitor the words and examples you expose yourself to each day. Look for examples and data that help your brain body system build algorithms for solving problems and getting back after setback or period of struggle.
Find the voices and words of those who light something within you to keep going not only for your own sake, but because there may be someone out there who needs your voice in the face of whatever they’re going through
In my book and in my most recent podcast episode, season 4 episode 1 of the Mindset Neuroscience Podcast, I cover research on this that spans decades, and is now converging into important theories for addressing mental health and inter speech.
this video how the brain develops mindsets and how our early experiences influence our current mindset.

Are you struggling to articulate the concrete benefits of your services to potential clients?
When I first started coaching and counselling, there were so many things that I saw helped people improve relationships, self-esteem, and enhance their wellbeing in so many ways. I wanted to help people shift their mindset and take the steps and reflections they needed to improve their lives. But it took a lot of effort to get people to attend seminars and engage.
I decided to try a new approach and understand how mindset shifts happened from a mechanical and neurological perspective. So I went to grad school. And then re-engaged in counselling, coaching and facilitating, armed with the support of neuroscience.
Understanding the science changed everything for me, personally and professionally. I started attracting new, GLOBAL and deeply engaged audiences.
The shift into the SCIENCE of mindset and human potential helped me gain new clients and collaborations I never thought were possible - with top-tier organizations and incredible people making a massive impact. As they worked with me to enhance their existing projects and content, their sense of expertise skyrocketed, which helped them gain more engagement from their own staff, clients and other audiences.
Whether it’s through me or through some other type of program, I highly recommend learning more about the neuromechanics of mindsets, emotions and behaviors to build science-supported approaches and language. This could be the pivotal key to skyrocketing your impact and reaching more people.
