As counter-intuitive as this might seem (and you may have heard this before, but it's worth repeating)...
Resilient systems* aren't built from smooth sailing...
They are strengthened and fortified through rupture-and-repair.
*Remember that you are a system (a complex, adaptive one). So is your brain, your relationships, your community, your species.
The moment you lose your composure in a meeting and then find your way back.
The conversation that becomes dysregulating... and then, somehow, becomes what both people really needed after all.
The day you fall apart and discover you can re-center yourself differently than before.
That's your nervous system expanding its range.
This is called the rupture-repair cycle*. And it's one of the most powerful mechanisms your brain-body system has for building genuine resilience.
*the Resilience free mini-book goes more into that - link here
Not the fragile kind that performs fine as long as it's not overly challenged.
A deeper, more sustainable kind.
One that reflects the Nature of Intelligence itself. Flexible. Adaptive. Responsive to feedback - without collapsing when the feedback is not what we think it 'should' be.
Every time you rupture and repair, you are literally training your neural networks to tolerate more. To hold more complexity. To stay in the fire a little longer without losing yourself.
This is what Super-Regulators understand.
They're not the ones who never break.
They're the ones who have broken (many times) - and learned that it's a pattern we can work with.
When you've been through your own ruptures - and gone through the repair process - you start to SEE things in others that they can't yet see in themselves.
The student who can't sit still --> you recognize it as a nervous system in overdrive, not a behavior problem.
The leader who shuts down in when a conversation gets difficult --> you understand the threat response, not a personality flaw.
The client who self-sabotages their chances to level up... and you see the protection strategy underneath.
Less labeling, more illuminating the patterns and systems that help us evolve upwards.
That's the wisdom of a Super-Regulator... an ability to not only desire and work towards your own form of genius, but to help others recognize their own.
Here's your reflection for today:
Reflect on what ruptures you've already survived. Notice where you've expanded.
With deep respect for your journey,
Stefanie Faye
If you're a helper, you sometimes (likely) experience people tuning out when you’re trying to help them... People think ideas change minds. The nervous system decides first.
Resistance to change is one of my favorite topics.. there's deeply empowering neuroscience wisdom behind it. I'm sharing the framework that has helped me turn skeptics into advocates when it comes to human growth and transformation...
If you want people to not only understand the science of expanding human potential— but actually say yes to it, these tools will help.
Inside you'll get:
The Resonance Language Bank
A curated set of phrases and explanations that help translate neuroscience and emotional regulation concepts into language skeptical audiences actually respond to.
The Beyond the Echo Chamber Cheat Sheet
A quick guide for communicating ideas outside your usual audience so your message lands even with people who don’t already agree.
The Resistance Field Guide
A practical reference for recognizing the subtle signals of resistance in real time — and responding in ways that help nervous systems open rather than shut down.
