"The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it."
-Marcus Aurelius*
We are living in a time of so much dysregulating nervous system input.
Uncertainty, unexpected events and changes.. Other people's fear, anger and reactivity. Events we can't predict or control.
We can't regulate the world into becoming certain, easy and comfortable...
We lose agency when we try to grip that type of control.
Where we GAIN agency is when we can become more aware of what happens inside us when things go worse than we hoped, or change in ways we didn't expect..
Because dysregulation goes beyond nervous system states and reactivity ..
it's also about prediction and meaning-making..
what our brain-body system predicts about where it should put its attention...
..and then the meaning it makes about that event.
This is where mindset and nervous system regulation are really hard for me to discuss as separate topics.
The meanings we make and mindsets we have influence the biological-nervous system states we experience.
The mindset we have about ourselves, and the events that happen in both our external and internal worlds dramatically influences our feelings, motivations, neurochemical responses.
This is why teaching and learning about mindset matters so much
When someone sees how mindset shapes their own responses. - and the mechanisms behind that-
...they have a better chance of innovating and opening to ideas and behaviors that can help them improve there situation in some way.
Wishing you mindset-making that expands you into your desired experiences..

The Teach Mindset Science Framework walks through how to understand and then teach these mechanics so people can use them directly in their own lives.
*I love Marcus Aurelius and his book Meditations. I do believe that nuance is needed for statements like this. It’s related to what i call a mindset ‘hyper belief”. Yes, our thoughts, appraisals and mindaet dramatically and significant affect our actual nwuroxhemical and physiological responses to people, events and life. But circumstances and environment matter too. Resources (social, behaviorally, neural, physical, nutritional etc) are needed in order for our brain to activate wht is needed to update our mindset. All of these matter in our conversations with and about others who we are trying to help, serve, co-create with
