For almost 20 years, I've been watching what happens inside people while they're trying to learn, change and grow.
I’ve looked at brain activity, heart rhythms, eyes, faces, skin and other physiological signals.
I’ve done this in high-performance settings and with people navigating addiction, anxiety, depression and learning challenges. I’ve watched people wanting to change patterns that are keeping them stuck, and blocking them from living a life they feel really good about.
This is one reason I care so much about teaching people to understand nervous systems and brains..
And why I care about teaching the deeper systems and mechanisms running underneath all of it..
Because when you can get a glimpse into what might be happening in the brain-body realm of someone's behaviors and reactions.. It sparks a change in your own perspective, and insight.
Your explanations can often feel more grounded in your own body - because you’re able to connect with those same universally human structures within you.
Blood flow, heart rhythms, neuro-electro-chemical patterns, movements in your face, grasping or releasing of your fingers and hands…
I've seen this in my own work and how it has evolved over so many years.
Getting deeper into brains, bodies and nervous systems gave me a unique lens of understanding what all the ‘self-help’, self-care, soft skills, personal growth stuff was all about.
I have been able to see the ideas that people were sharing about:
… how they were all connected and supported by what i was seeing ‘under the hood’.
My confidence hasn’t come from memorizing brain parts or having some perfect tool or formula.
It comes from years of literally watching brains and hearts, eyes, faces and skin change in real time.
And watching how contexts, systems, tools and people move through phases of healing, learning, growth and connection (to themselves, their own wisdom, and to the people in their life).
I've watched how systems affect other systems.
How people, history, contexts affect what's happening inside us.
How a person can know something in an intellectual type of way but still not be able to really use it or access it when they need it.
And how greater connectivity between systems can open up possibilities that weren't available before.
I want you to have access to that kind of confidence, too.
Because people can feel when you understand at a level that feels steady and also dynamic,
open to evolving - and also grounded in something, physical, molecular, universal. (like having a human-dynamic heart, a plastic brain, blood, organs and nerves).
Sometimes the experience you are looking for - as a helper, healer, teacher, guide, leader… isn't that you need another certification, or more qualifications..
You might just need a richer map of the human being in front of you.
A way to explore that is coming from looking within the internal systems...
... while also keeping a pulse on the many other systems that connect and weave into our lived, embodied experiences.
It's 9 modules built from what I've learned across decades of studying nervous systems, physiological data, learning and change.
I created to help people move beyond memorizing neuroscience words or brain parts, or another acronym.
I created it to help people see a richer tapestry of systems.
To help people see more deeply (and across a wider view) of what might be happening when someone shuts down, pushes back, loses interest or doesn't follow through.
And from that richer, wider, deeper view…
we often get a glimpse of more places where change could be sparked, a seed of something new could be planted..
What people report is that they have more ways to talk about the nervous system.. And this gives them a sense of confidence AND authenticity.
If you've ever wanted to feel more confident talking about the work you do in helping people heal, learn and grow.. . I made this for you.
Teach the Nervous System is currently $44. Lifetime Access.
Wishing you a wonderful view of the systems that connect and move us…

P.S. As you’ve possibly heard me say before (and possibly many times!) … nervous system regulation isn't about a static state of calm. It's about expanding the range of states we can access AND an evolving capacity to respond, adapt and connect.
As I mentioned yesterday, here are
5 Wisdom Questions to help us with understanding the worthiness of what we are consuming.
Before you open your next article, watch that video, or dive into a thread, pause. Ask yourself these wisdom questions:
Does this information help me see the larger systems I'm part of?
Does it expand my perspective beyond my immediate circumstances?
Does it reveal micro-actions I can take: real (and often microscopic), tangible steps within my sphere of influence (Or will it leave me feeling paralyzed by problems too big to touch?)
Does it help me see that my greatest sphere of influence is MYSELF first and the energy I bring into my immediate interactions, relationships, conversations and community (both in person and online)?
The overall meta-question of these is.. does consuming this expand or contract my agency?
